Integration- Zhinh. A Journey Stitched in Threads of Home
This collection is a story of returning, of healing, of becoming whole. and bringing Zhinh from the concept and cosmos to physical reality.
On my first journey back to Vietnam, my homeland, I found a tapestry. Not just any tapestry, but one woven decades ago, rich with history and texture, speaking in quiet whispers of a past I never knew but have always longed for. It was a piece of home, one I had felt disconnected from my entire life.
That trip shook me to my core. It was deeply emotional, life-changing, and full of moments where I was forced to confront parts of myself I had never met before. As I walked the landscapes, I began to piece together the missing fragments of who I am. And in finding this tapestry, I found a tangible representation of that process—a symbol of integration.
In this collection, I am weaving pieces of this tapestry into each Zhinh garment. Each stitch is deliberate. It’s a meditation, a self-soothing practice, a way of processing the inner earthquakes that followed my return. Stitch by stitch, I integrate two worlds: my heritage and the life I’ve built here.
Through recent research, I discovered that this tapestry is vintage, created in the 1970s by the Hmong Hill Tribe, an ethnic minority group from Northern Vietnam. The Hmong people are known for their vibrant textiles and intricate embroidery—a legacy of color and craft. Learning this hit me hard. It confirmed something I’ve longed to feel: connection.
In that moment, I cried. For the first time, I felt more connected to my heritage than I ever had—even more than when I was physically in Vietnam. It was as if the threads of this tapestry were pulling me closer to the truth of who I am and what I’m meant to do.
This collection is not just about clothes; it’s about weaving realities, histories, and identities together. It’s about honoring the beauty of integration—not as a single act, but as an ongoing process. Life has brought me here today to offer you these garments, infused with the essence of other worlds, stitched together into one.
Every piece in this collection carries these threads of connection, culture, and healing. It’s a testament to the journey of returning home—to a place, to a heritage, to ourselves.
Welcome to Integration—a collection born from the weaving of two worlds, and the stitching of one heart."
